    As part of the Coastal Creatures Project a species census across four beaches along the North Devon Coast AONB was undertaken.

    On 13/07/18 and 14/07/18 members of the public ranging from experienced taxonomists to school children took part in a 24 hour survey of the wildlife in the Yealm Estuary.

  9. Data resource: 2018 North Devon Coast Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty Northam Burrows BioBlitz

    Bioblitz survey which took place in Northam Burrows. This survey's aim was to record as many species as possible as being present within a set survey area over 8-hours. A variety of different methods were employed, incuding plankton netting and walkovers although most records were ad-hoc sightings made during the 8 hour survey.

    Skomer Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ) is the only MCZ in Wales and sits within the Pembrokeshire Islands marine SAC (Special Area of Conservation). Natural Resoures Wales (NRW) has a duty to monitor these sites and plankton is not only a feature of the MCZ, but also a fundamental part in understanding the functioning of all the marine habitats that form features of the SAC. Skomer was a Marine Nature Reserve (wildlife and countryside act) but since 2009 is now a Marine Conservation Zone which was designated under the Marine & Coastal access act.

  17. Data resource: A Lichen Survey of the Ben Nevis Plateau

    This survey was commissioned by the John Muir Trust to study the lichen communities of the Ben Nevis plateau and any threats posed to these communities. Field work was carried out over a 4 day period in September 2006. The plateau is a vast boulder-field with pebble, cobble, and boulder size scree and occasional outcrops. The rock is of two lava types: Trachyte and Dacite.
